Bob and I are going to take off the next couple of days and have ourselves an early weekend. I am now convinced that purchasing the boat was the best thing we have ever done. When we return on Saturday I am going to confirm our cruise.

Yesterday went better than expected. I only had to send Bob on one trip and that was only because I left a box on the table. We are thinking that a short Caribbean Cruise is in order. About a week or so would be perfect. The weather is great and we both could use some r and r.

We spent the weekend with Caroline D. She has grown so much! What a smile that baby has. We arrive home just about an hour ago and it’s time to finally hit the books. With the newest restaurant being a joint venture it seems to have put us later than usual getting to the accountant. I usually end up forgetting something, so Bob really dislikes this time of the year because he is the one who has to go and find whatever it is I neglected to bring. It’s going to be a long day. Of course the positive side of “tax day” is Bob and I take a short cruise to celebrate getting it done.

It’s a beautiful day here. The temp has finally reached 60, still chilly for me. Tomorrow we head back to Florida. I think I may try to talk Bob into staying until at least Sunday.

I have a busy day ahead! First my daughter-in-law and I are going to do some shopping, then a late lunch and then to the spa. Bob has decided he is going to spend the day with our son doing “guy” things. After the spa (I still haven’t made it to the hotel’s spa.) we are going back to my son’s house and get dressed for the Opera. We are going to buy some very nice dresses for our evening and I think Bob is due for a new suit. This should be a very enjoyable day.

My sons spoil me so! We went to a lovely musical last night and tonight we went to a fantastic Greek restaurant. Tomorrow night he says he has even bigger plans. I love being spoiled.

We arrived at our hotel this afternoon. Our son is still at work, so Bob and I are heading to the pool for a dip. If I have time I will be stopping in at the hotel spa before going to dinner. If not it gives me something to do tomorrow. By the way, it is COLD here. Brrrrrr.

Now that I have now hired three replacements, it’s time to go visit my other son. I don’t want to deal with the cold, but love keeps me warm. We have found a lovely hotel with a beautiful indoor pool; at least I can pretend I am still in Florida. I don’t think we will stay the whole week, but Bob tends to change his mind in these situations. Then from there we are going to stop in and visit with new grandbaby. I am feeling better and better about leaving Florida now.

Once again I will be spending the day interviewing for our restaurant. This is a rather tedious process. Today will be more intense than usual since we are interviewing for all three positions. I have stratigecally placed my roses on the desk so that I can have a real smile on my face no matter how terrible the interview may go. Bob really knows me so well after all the years we have been together. He knows exactly how to put a smile on my face no matter how bad it may get. If you have ever had to interview people for a position of any sort you know how hard it can be to smile by the end of the day. Hopefully I can find the right people today and not have to spend all day tomorrow doing interviews as well.

After the busy week we have had with the restaurants, I was feeling rather bad. Then Bob got me the most beautiful roses! The card read, “To the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Even after all the years we have had together, you are my sunshine.” He is so wonderful. He always seems to know when I need a little extra to make it through.

After firing is hiring. I placed the ad today and I hope we get some applicants soon. The sooner the better as far as I am concerned. While I don’t want to leave my warm Florida, I do want to visit my other child.

About owning a restaurant is having to fire people. The inspections went well, until we arrived at the problem location. I had to fire 3 people. It was no fun for anyone involved. I really do not like that part of the job, so Bob and I have decided that we will perform monthly surprise inspections. (Unless of course we are on a cruise. ) Speaking of which I need to decide where we should go next and when.

The only bad thing that occurred while we were away was that we received a report from one of our managers that much of the wait staff was not following procedure. I will not stand for this sort of thing. When I go into a restaurant I expect great service and I expect clean service. I will not have someone working in my restaurant that does not follow the rules. If someone is to wear gloves when handling food, they better darn well do it. I do not enjoy these days. I am very unconfrontational, but mess with my livelihood and you will regret it. So we are going to hit all our restaurants today and check in and see what needs to be done to rectify this situation and any others we may not be aware of.

We arrived home and the sun was out! It was so warm; I thought for a moment that I may never leave Florida again. Mind you, it was very literally a moment. Ha, ha, ha. Tomorrow Bob and I are going to “pop” in for some surprise inspections at the restaurants. This should be a very interesting day.

Bob and I are getting ready to head back home. We are both more than ready for some warm weather. I just don’t want to arrive home to the rain that looks to be hitting Florida very widely. Here’s to the sun shinning!

I am having a wonderful time! Last night we went ice skating. I have not been on the ice in so many years, I was sure I would fall and break my hip! Thankfully, I did not fall. I wasn’t graceful, but I didn’t hit the ice either. Bob is ready to get back to Florida and we leave tomorrow. I think I am ready for the sunshine too.

We arrived late last night at our son’s home in North Carolina. I never imagined it would be so cold. I guess after being in Hawaii and the Florida weather, anywhere else would seem cold. I am greatly relived that we missed the horrible tornados in central Florida. If we had left any later we would have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bob swears I should have brought a heavier coat for him. Poor honey is freezing. Tonight our son and his wife are treating to dinner in their favorite restaurant. They have something they want to tell/discuss with us. Could there be yet another addition to the family?
